How Do Ya Like Them Apples (The Fruits of the Spirit)

Each of the study outlines in this blog are arranged by me personally, based on my own study of the scriptures and prayerful consideration. My hope is that they might be useful or helpful to you on your own journey getting to know Jesus.

*All scripture references are based on the NAS Bible (though some will be paraphrased),

We read about what scripture calls the fruit of the spirit in Galatians chapter 5, verses 22 and 23.

They are as follows:

1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Patience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self Control

5. To you, what is the difference between joy & happiness?

6. How has the joy of Christ sustained you? (Give an example).

7. God's word speaks of the peace which passes all understanding. Give an example of how his peace brought you through a challenging situation.

8. How do you think Christ's peace differs from our own idea of peace?

9. Why do you suppose people joke about not praying for patience? What are some things we might do in order to "pursue" patience (and it's perfect work in us)? (James 1:4).

10. How do you think God's kindness differs from what we consider to be kindness?

11. What do you think are some things that tend to "kill" kindness in your daily walk?

12. How do you believe we can demonstrate God's goodness to others?

13. Give examples of how You believe God has shown his goodness to you?

14. How would you say God has helped you to remain faithful (to him or to others) when it has not been easy?

15. How has God loved you when your faith has wavered? (How has he been faithful to you?)

16. What are some ways that we can show Christ's gentleness to others?

17. In scripture, which examples of Christ's gentleness really speak to you? (pick one or several).

18. What does self-control mean to you personally?

19. To you, what are some ways we can practice self control?

20. In which areas of life would you like to have more self control?
